1 August 2016

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) appointed Brian Talma and Chelsea Tuach as official sports tourism ambassadors for Barbados. The two accomplished surfers will be promoting the profile of the Barbados across the world as a premier sports tourism destination.
Brian Talma from Barbados, known as “deAction man”, is a windsurf veteran. He represented Barbados at the Soul Korea Olympics in 1988 and four years later at the Olympic games in Barcelona, Spain. After graduating with a BA in Business Administration, he opened his own shop in Barbados, deAction Surf Shop, providing lessons and rental facilities for windsurfing, surfing, kite boarding and standup paddling.
Chelsea Tuach is Barbados enfant prodige, world-wide famous despite her young age. She started surfing at the age of 8, following her older siblings, and grew up in Soup Bowl, one of the best spot in the Island to surf. She holds the record of being the youngest surfer to ever represent Barbados on the World tour, as she competed at ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in 2006 when she was only 10 years old. Now she’s 20 and currently ranked top 13 on the WSL World Qualification Series and top 16 on the WSL World Championship Tour.
Neville Boxill, BTMI Senior Director, Support Services, stated: “We are ecstatic for this partnership with Brian Talma and Chelsea Tuach, who are both water sports champions and will be playing a tremendous role in sustaining the island’s strong reputation as a surfer’s paradise, through their activities and shows around the world.”
The ambassadorship will be for one year in the first instance for both Tuach and Talma but the BTMI executive expressed an interest in making it an ongoing relationship. The partnership will include authorized use of branded materials during photo ops and other appearances, use of their image on promotional material, digital content creation and appearances at notable local and international events.
