Luxury Travel Trends: the new study by AIGO and Pangaea Network
Research 21 December 2017Now in its 5th edition, the study was conducted on an international panel of over 600 tourism professionals.
Ran last October, the new research involved 636 professionals, including 486 travel agents or tour operators from different countries: Latin America, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Spain and the USA. 30% of these respondents have 11-20 years of experience in the sector, 29% have 21-30 years of experience while 20% have been working in tourism for over 30 years.
The collected data show that luxury travel is widespread, as 93% of respondents sell luxury travel: 45% said that 2 out of 10 of their customers are high-spending travellers and that 47% of customers book two – three trips a year.
For 30% of respondents, uniqueness and exclusivity are the key factors of a luxury travel, while 29% of respondents indicate the customization of services. Third is the quality of the hotels (21%) and fourth the flight class (12%). In general, there is an interest in quality products and exclusive tailor-made services.
