EXPO Milano 2015: ‘A journey of flavours’ discovering Morocco
News 16 June 2015Tourism Board presents the country between history and sustainability
In line with the themes connected with sustainability proposed by Expo, Moroccan National Tourism Board presented on 16th June 2015 at the Expo Milano 2015 Morocco Pavillion, at presence of H.E. Hassan Abouyoub, Ambassador of the Reign of Morocco in Italy, the news and the projects for touristic development of the strategic plan Vision 2020, starting from the exhibition, which has inspired by the traditional architecture of a kasbah and hosts a sensorial path through the five regions and ecosystems of Morocco, from the Atlas to the Center, from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and the Great South.
The Director of Moroccan National Tourism Board – Jazia Santissi – illustrated the projects related to ecotourism which country is developing: there will be a series of investments in the tourism field with the objective to give value to and preserve the historical and environmental heritage, in order to position Morocco among the first 20 destinations in the world. Among this activities, the program Patrimony and Heritage involves ksour and kabash, the ancient fortified villages and cities, typical in the Moroccan history, to be converted in touristic facilities as hotel, museums and structures for entertainment.
In 2014 there was an investment of 1.6 billion Euros, among which more than 221 millions where dedicated to rural and natural tourism, which will create 25,000 job positions.
