Growth of Italian arrivals in Mauritius in 2016

Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, Tourism Authority of Mauritius, transmits the data of tourist flows from Italy who continue the positive trend at the end of 2015 in the first months of 2016.

The destination has in fact recorded, during the first quarter of 2016, a growth of + 4.4% over the same period of 2015; particularly positive in January, which marked a significant increase of + 13.3%, with 3,686 arrivals from Italy.

The results of the last few months of 2015 had launched a positive signal for 2016, where the Mauritius Tourism Organisation expects further growth in the interest of steady development. Following the excellent results achieved in 2015 and in early 2016, it is expected that in the coming months the trend will continue to grow, due to the return of high-spending customers. Mauritius Tourism’s objective for 2016 is to further increase arrivals from Italy through targeted projects and activities for the destination’s key targets, honeymooners and families.

MTPA activities in Italy have focused on the promotion of the destination through initiatives dedicated to the trade, to the press and to the consumer. Main channel of communication between travelers and the tourism organization is the Italian Facebook Fanpage, which currently has more than 37,000 fans and a high level of interaction. An extraordinary result that confirms the public interest in this destination that attracts more and more of our compatriots.
