How italian families travel: insights from the Evaneos 2025 study

24 April 2025

A recent study conducted by Evaneos involving 1,000 Italian families highlights how travel has evolved into a meaningful opportunity for connection, personal growth, and discovery. Far beyond a simple holiday, travel is increasingly seen as a shared experience that enriches family life.

The research reveals that a significant majority—71% of families—prefer to travel with their children. This tendency is particularly marked among traditional families (82.5%), followed by extended families (49%), divorced parents (39%), and single parents (27%). For half of the respondents, planning a trip is considered a pleasurable experience, while 29% view it as a necessity, and 12% find it a source of stress.

When it comes to how time is spent during trips, 51% of parents express a preference for engaging in activities alongside their children. Others strike a balance between shared experiences and moments of individual relaxation. In terms of accommodation and travel style, convenience plays a key role: one third of families choose tourist resorts, while nearly a quarter favor itinerant travel for its sense of freedom and exploration.

Notably, 70% of parents involve their children in choosing the destination, fostering a participatory approach that makes the journey more meaningful for the entire family.

In a world where quality time together is more valuable than ever, tailor-made travel emerges as the ideal solution for stress-free and enriching experiences. Thanks to its global network of local travel experts, Evaneos enables families to create personalised itineraries that combine comfort and adventure, promoting a responsible and sustainable way of discovering the world.
